What this is

KeenTimer is a collection of timers, clocks and countdowns that open instantly and stay out of your way: a countdown timer, stopwatch, Pomodoro and interval timers, a classroom disc timer, an alarm clock, a world clock, and preset pages for common lengths. See the full list.

How it keeps time

Nothing here counts ticks. Each timer stores the moment it should end and works out the time left from your device’s clock whenever it draws, so a busy computer, a background tab or a reload cannot make it drift. Running timers are saved on your device and restored when you come back.

Most alarm sounds are generated in your browser, and the few recorded ones are downloaded only when you pick them, which is part of why pages load so quickly.

What it cannot do

A web page can only make sound while its tab is open and the device is awake, and browsers block sound until you have interacted with the page. Phones may also silence web pages with the ring/silent switch. Each tool says so where it matters. For anything you cannot afford to miss, use your device’s built-in alarm as well.

Private by design

There are no accounts and nothing is uploaded. Saved timers and history live in your browser; the privacy page has the details.
