Online Stopwatch

Start it, record laps as you go, and export the times when you are done. Close the tab mid-run and it is still counting when you come back.

Laps

Press Lap while the stopwatch runs to record lap and split times.

How to use it

  1. Press Start (or the space bar) to begin timing.
  2. Press Lap (or L) each time a lap ends. The table shows each lap’s own time and the split — the total time at that point.
  3. Press Stop to pause; Start again to carry on from where you stopped.
  4. Use Copy or Export CSV to take the lap table into a spreadsheet.
  5. Reset clears the time and laps and records the session in your history.

Lap time and split time

A lap time is how long one lap took: the time between two presses of Lap. A split time is the total elapsed time at the moment you pressed it. Runners usually compare lap times; a race result sheet usually lists splits.

Once you have two or more laps, the fastest is marked in green and the slowest in red.

Questions people ask

How accurate is it?

It reads your device’s clock rather than counting ticks, so it does not drift. The display shows hundredths of a second. For hand-timed events, your reaction time (typically a few tenths of a second) is the larger error.

What happens if I reload or close the page?

The start time and laps are saved on your device. Reopen the page and the stopwatch shows the correct elapsed time, still running.

Is there a limit on laps?

No fixed limit. The table scrolls, and the export includes every lap.
